Financial Controller required for an International Insurance Company in Gibraltar. The successful applicant will be responsible for all European entities regulatory, tax, government and other external reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will be qualified ACA, ACCA or CPA and have some experience working within the Insurance sector for example from within Audit or from a Regulator environment.
The fundamental duties of the Financial Controller will be to prepare the European consolidated financial statements including board reports, while maintaining the reporting system and consolidated reports.

What You Will Be Doing
- Manage the production of all annual financial statements for the Europe entities in compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards and submit to regulators on time.Â
- Where entities apply local GAAP, ensure accurate conversion into IFRS for consolidation purposesÂ
- Calculate taxes for European entities and ensure timely submission of tax returns. Â
- Prepare and submit all financial regulatory and statistical filing for Europe in accordance with the applicable regulations.Â
- Liaise with actuarial teams to align financial and solvency reportingÂ
- Review and submit external financial reports for Europe within deadlines.Â
- Assess and document the impact of new IFRS accounting standards, tax regulations and other new regulatory changes. Â
- Maintain the tax policies for all European entities, including transfer pricing policies.Â
- Continuously improve to mitigate reporting risks.Â
- Manage a small Financial Reporting team, including performance appraisals and objective setting.Â
- Act as the European Regional lead, working with the Global Financial Reporting team on implementing new accounting standards, policies, and process/control changes related to external financial reporting and European consolidation.Â
- Prepare Board deliverables, covering mid-term capital plan and financial updates, on a quarterly and annual basis and ensure accurate and timely submissionÂ
- Ensure compliance with European’s regulatory, tax, government and other external reporting, including but not limited to Solvency II, MIB, IPT, Flood-Re, FCA, on a quarterly and annual basis. Â
- Manage internal and external audit requirements for Europe to ensure that the deadline and deliverables are met.Â
- Review and interpret technical accounting standards applicable to the Europe entities to present accurate financial information to internal and external stakeholders.Â
What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA)Â
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and Solvency II regulationsÂ
- Strong understanding of prudential regulatory frameworks (e.g., Solvency II, Basel III, BMA regulations, NAIC, etc.)Â
- Experience in the insurance industryÂ
- Hands-on experience in preparing and submitting reports to financial regulators Â
- Experience with internal and external audits Â
- Preferred proficiency in general ledger systems Â
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, macros)Â
- Experience with regulatory reporting platforms Â
- Team leadership or supervisory experienceÂ
- Strong communication skills for engaging with senior management, regulators, and auditorsÂ
- Experience working cross-functionally (e.g., risk, actuarial, compliance, legal)Â
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in financial or regulatory reportingÂ
