Financial Controller sought for a Gibraltar based commercial entity to lead the Accounts function and ensure the delivery of high-quality financial information, effective treasury management, accurate reporting and strategic decision-making.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for the overall financial management of the organisation, ensuring accurate, timely and reliable financial information to support senior management, trustees, and investment decision-making.

The role requires a hands-on approach in a small but busy office, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations while managing reporting, controls, and external relationships.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Reporting to senior management/directors and managing a team of two accounts staff
  • Oversight of all accounting records and financial processes
  • Review of daily, weekly, and monthly reporting outputs
  • Preparation and review of management accounts and financial reports
  • Oversight of treasury, cash management, and investment reporting
  • Managing audits, tax compliance, and statutory reporting
  • Maintaining robust internal controls and financial governance
  • Review and finalise monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
  • Oversee intercompany reconciliations and transactions
  • Review investment reporting and ensure consistency with accounting records
  • Maintain accounting policies and ensure compliance with relevant standards
  • Oversight of daily cash position and liquidity across multiple bank accounts
  • Monitor cash flows and funding requirements
  • Liaise with banks and manage banking relationships
  • Supervise and support the team members (Accountant and Assistant Accountant)
  • Review work outputs including reconciliations and reports
  • Ensure deadlines are met and processes are efficient
  • Lead the year-end audit process and act as primary contact for auditors
  • Coordinate preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Oversee tax filings and regulatory compliance (as applicable)
  • Maintain and enhance use of Microsoft Business Central (BC)
  • Improve reporting processes and internal controls
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and electronic filing systems are in place
  • Support senior management with financial analysis and reporting
  • Assist with investment and treasury-related analysis
  • Provide input into process improvements and operational efficiency

What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in a hands-on financial controller role, preferably in a small or mid-sized organisation
  • Experience managing full accounting cycles and audits
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with Microsoft Business Central advantageous
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing a small team
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with senior stakeholders
