Assistant Manager – Client Accounting to join our Fiduciary client based in Gibraltar. This is a hands-on role that combines technical accounting expertise with the opportunity to supervise and support junior team members, manage a diverse portfolio of clients and assist the management team in the day-to-day operations of the team. They will take ownership of their client portfolio, deliver a high standard of client service, identify and resolve technical issues and contribute to the development of junior colleagues.

This role is ideally suited to a part qualified ACCA or candidates qualified by experience who are looking to take the next step in their career by developing their leadership skills while continuing to build their technical accounting knowledge

What You Will Be Doing

  • Process accounting transactions, journal entries and reconciliations, maintaining accounting records for a portfolio of clients
  • Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and law
  • Prepare Gibraltar tax computations and tax returns for submission to the Tax Office
  • Act as primary day to day contact for a portfolio of clients, responding to queries in a professional and timely manner and building strong, long-term client relationships
  • Assist with the preparation, processing and review of client payrolls inline with regulations
  • Monitor client deadlines and ensure the timely delivery of accounts, tax returns, payroll etc
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, assisting with their technical development and acting as a point of reference for day-to-day queries. 
  • Support the management team with the planning, prioritisation and allocation of work across the team to ensure deadlines are met
  • Identify technical, accounting or compliance issues and escalate matters where appropriate
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes, systems and working practices to enhance efficiency and client service
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with internal policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role

What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role

  • ACCA part-qualified, or qualified by relevant experience, with a commitment to continuing professional development
  • A minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience, ideally gained within a professional practice, fiduciary, trust, corporate services or client accounting environment
  • Good working knowledge of accounting principles and statutory financial statements. 
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients and building effective client relationships. 
  • Experience preparing Gibraltar tax computations and returns, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.  
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, professional and collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently whilst supporting the wider team. 
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality client service and maintaining confidentiality and professional standards
