Head of Risk

Head of Risk (HOR) required for a commercial insurance company with an established base in Gibraltar. The role involves in the first instance establishing and then maintaining a robust risk framework, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements by the Gibraltar Regulatory Authorities. As Head of Risk, you will ideally be an approved person by the Gibraltar Regulator or the UK FCA/CRA.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead the planning and execution of risk assurance, risk consultation and aligning with the company’s risk exposure and strategy.
• Oversee the timely and accurate completion of all regulatory filings and periodic returns.
• Lead the ORSA process, ensuring its timely production and submission, and advising the Board on risk and conduct matters.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with business managers and other risk teams to embed a strong risk culture across the organization.
• Guide the development and implementation of risk and compliance policies and procedures. Play an active role in product governance decisions to ensure customer needs are met.
• Support the Board and senior management in making informed decisions by providing expert advice on regulatory risk and conduct.

What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role

• A relevant bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, eg Law, Business etc.
• Membership to a professional association would be an advantage, eg, ICA, IRM, AGRC.
• Extensive experience in a risk focused role, ideally within the insurance sector and with knowledge of the Gibraltar regulatory environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to partner with and challenge business leaders.
• Self-starter and capable of working under own direction.
• Analytical skills to interpret regulatory requirements and assess risk.
• Strategic thinking and a proactive approach to risk management procedures.
