Product Development Engineer

Product Development Engineer CAD Design required to work for the product development department which will be responsible for the research, design and development of new products used for customising vehicles to meet the specific needs of humanitarian aid and conservation organisations.

What You Will Be Doing

• Generate design solutions for components and complex assemblies using 3D CAD tools.
• Create and review 2D drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs), utilising drafting principles.
• Produce 3D realistic renders for client presentations and new conversion projects.
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate designs for strength, durability, and performance.
• Develop and maintain electrical drawings for vehicle conversions.
• Create technical documents whilst adhering to departmental processes and report progress to the assistant manager.
• Ensure delivery of work in line with priorities and contribute to project planning within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Hold regular product review meetings with both internal and external customers.
• Collaborate closely with the vehicle conversions coordinator to develop options promptly, enabling the sales team to provide quotes efficiently and accurately.
• Evaluate and report on the progress of each product’s development, durability, performance, goals, schedule, and costs.
• Create technical solutions to meet tender specifications, including drawings and manuals when required.
• Populate the knowledge centre database with supplier information and technical data.
• Enhance the product supply chain by identifying and sourcing high-quality suppliers.
• Maintain existing supplier relationships for new products and explore new suppliers for suitable products and vehicle solutions.
• Generate technical data to assist the marketing team in creating their materials and to support the sales team.
• Exhibit strong level of commitment to timely problem solving and dedication to completion of all assigned tasks.
• Attend annual international exhibitions to discover new products, as needed.
• Support cost saving activities and participate as required in new business hunting activities.
• Collect customer feedback when available and distribute it appropriately.
• Perform any other tasks as directed by the management team.

What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role

• Experience in product development process.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Experience in working with suppliers for material sourcing and new products.
• Product development in the automotive or vehicle conversion industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Fluent in English and Spanish or any other language.
• Additional certifications in FEA, CAD, or Electrical Design.
• Capable of working independently while effectively managing multiple projects.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills to drive data-informed decisions.
• Highly organized with a methodical approach to tasks.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and actively contribute to decision-making processes.
• Capable of performing in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel as required.
