Experienced Financial Controller sought for an international Insurance Company in Gibraltar. This is a newly created role within the company and will work alongside existing senior finance staff responsible for all financial reports and regulatory reporting to ensure the company’s financial results are in line with Group and Gibraltar regulation. The Financial Controller will report directly to the Finance Director based in Gibraltar with an indirect line to the Group senior Finance and Operations Team. Candidates must have a relevant Degree and be ACA, ACCA or similar qualified
Applicants ideally will be trained in Audit and have 6 to 8 years’ Insurance accounting background, ideally with a motor Insurer, group accounting expertise, IFRS 17 current knowledge, Solvency II reporting.
Candidates must be living locally to apply or have a date for arrival to living in Gibraltar.

What You Will Be Doing
- Participate in quarterly closing process and group financial reporting
- Analyse results and assist with quarterly internal reporting to local and Group Executive Management, including but not limited to the production of quarterly management accounts
- Produce quarterly financial reports for the regulator and assist with the preparation of ad hoc analyses or information requests from the regulator
- Responsible for insurance underwriting system reconciliations
- Assist with Solvency II quarterly and annual reporting including aspects of quantitative, and qualitative reporting
- Ongoing interaction within the company on the Reinsurance and MGA teams to understand and analyse business
- Prepare quarterly group reporting disclosures and regulatory reporting inputs
- Development and maintenance of SOX documentation
- Act as point of contact for Internal and External auditors and assist the Finance Director with the timely production of the financial statements and conclusion of the annual audit
- Prepare ad-hoc analyses and financial reports as required by the CEO and Board of Directors
- Participate in key finance systems initiatives and implementations
What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or similar) is required with a minimum of 6 to 8 years of post-qualification experience
- Experience of a minimum of 5 years in a similar role within an insurance entity required
- Proficiency in UK GAAP and/or IFRS for insurance and reinsurance
- Knowledge of SQL/database coding a distinct advantage
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and competing objectives
- Strong communication skills in written and verbal formats, ability to communicate with a broad range of audiences including senior management and technical experts
- Strong inter-personal skills with ability to function as member of a multi-disciplined, international team
- Bias towards action and self-directed
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and advanced Excel skills
